In my first term at Hampshire College, I signed up for a class titled, Color. I surely didn’t think of myself as an artist or a creative person, however there was something in the course description that really caught my attention. So I was curious. It seemed that just about every day, the professor would walk into the classroom completely overwhelmed by the display of fall colors he experienced by driving to campus. I spent many hours (often, loosing track of time) working on class assignments by making designs using Color Aid paper, an x-acto knife and glue. My next term, I enrolled in an introductory printmaking class. I loved the hands on and messy process, often leading to unanticipated results.
Although I was not consciously aware at the time, these two classes planted seeds in me while I pursued a degree in Physics and spent my working life as a software developer.
