These three places are all within about three miles of each other. As I drove to my first stop, I was acutely aware that I most often visited these places in the Gorge on my bicycle. I never spent much time at any of the stops, just a chance to stretch my legs and have a snack. Without my bike, I was free to explore on foot. From the parking lot, there are stunning views of Columbia Gorge. What I hadn’t noticed, is that opposite the views are these woods that get quite dense only a short distance from the parking lot. It was a whole different world: very still and solitary. My photographs from this day are laid out in the order of my encounters, starting with two images from the Women’s Forum, followed by one of the Vista House and the remainder of the images from Latourelle Falls.
